I’ve been watching Mariner highlights now that Kolten Wong is on the team. The highlights have been difficult to watch. The M’s pitching has been awful. Wong’s defense hasn’t looked all that great either. On the bright side, their hitting has been solid.
They’re a good team and it’s early in the season. I’m predicting a let-down season for the Astros, which is why I have the Ms finishing second in the West. It’s a bit of a reach, I admit, but this team was surprisingly good last year and they have the most exciting second-year position player in the majors.
If Wong’s defense is no good, it’s a huge problem for sure. Hopefully (for the Ms and their fans) this is just early-season rust.
I don’t know if I’d go so far as saying Wong is “no good,” but he’s not make making any great plays–and he missed on two plays that could have won the game. (They may not have been errors, but had he made one of them, they would have won.)
Put that aside though–they’re pitching needs get a lot better; maybe their bullpen especially.
I don’t watch a lot of other MLB teams, but the M’s seem to have a really good starting rotation–Luis Castillo, Bryce Miller, George Kirby, and Logan Gilbert.
Wong’s still struggling though. Sad to see.
By the way, this is the first time I got to watch Aaron Judge. He crushed several homers–talk about getting all of the ball. Somehow his swing looks more powerful than most other batters. How big is that dude? He looks huge.
I feel like I was watching those 8 minute-ish youtube game summary/highlights of the Ms for most of the season, but I admit about several weeks ago, I virtually gave up on them. They just couldn’t get beyond .500, and they’re overall play seemed kinda mediocre, which I guess is obvious.
But man, they’re really starting to heat up. (I’m bummed that Kolten has not been a factor, though.)

What below the Braves again? At least we above the Mets. Haha
I love the Angels pick at one, but Astros third? That was a great team the Phillies lost to last year.

First place… Marc must be pleased…
I wonder if Marc has season tickets. It’s going to be fun to watch the games at the ballpark.
