Springfield, like Rex Smith, was a musician first but didn’t make it in music until after he made it as an actor, unless you count some airplay in Australia. Yeah, I hesitated before adding it.
Was that Huey Lewis / Gwyneth Paltrow song a hit? Gwyneth had a few hit songs (“Forget You” and “Landslide”) from her time on Glee, but I don’t remember this one at all. And if we’re going to just share songs recorded by actors, the list will be super long. Are you familiar with the Golden Throats series of compilations?
EDIT: Ah. It’s from Duets, which I haven’t yet seen. Maybe it was a hit.
One million copies sold, peaking at #17 on the Billboard hot 100.
Some good ones. I thought I didn’t know the Scott Baio song, but it sounded a little familiar, although I might be confusing it with this:
As for Rick Springfield, was he an actor first? I thought he was a musician who turned to TV. No?
I really like this version. In fact, I think I like it more than the original.
(There’s gotta be a lot more out there.)
Here’s another that came to mind:

I think the Paltrow/Lewis rendition was a hit. I heard it on the radio, when it came out, anyway.
No, I’m not familiar with Golden Throats.
Didn’t Willis sing in a group, though? Not sure if it was prior to him becoming an actor.
I didn’t know that. It’s not in his Wikipedia article, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
I could be totally wrong. I vaguely recall that he sang in a bar band, but maybe that’s because of the Seagrams (sp?) commercial.
