Diamond Head Grill and Bakery

I really enjoy the blueberry-cream cheese scones and buttermilk biscuits from Diamond Head Grill & Bakery, so I was pretty psyched about trying their portobello mushroom and hamburger sandwich with grilled onions. It was good…not awesome…but good. A side order of fries is $2.00 but enough to share with a friend.

I tried the portobello mushroom burger, and I agree with your assessment. They’re kinda pricey there, too. So if you factor that in, I wouldn’t recommend them.

For scones, I recommend Sconee’s in Kaimuki if you haven’t already.

They now have a banana scone, in addition, to the blueberry scone. It’s good. (Larri liked it more than the blueberry.)

They also have a kalua turkey/salmon lau-lau ($7). It was about 4″x4″x4,” and instead of luau leaf covering the whole thing, it was stacked on the salmon, with the kalua turkey on the bottom. Kelvin Ro (?), the owner, raved about it to me, so I gave it a try. (He said he could return it if I didn’t like it. I laughed, but he said he was serious.) Anyway, I didn’t want to return it as it was good. The kalua turkey was very good–didn’t taste like liquid smoke, and it went fairly well (at least not bad) with the salmon. I wished the portion was a little larger, but this is higher end food.

I also tried the brown rice, salmon musubi–the only one that I know of (and the salmon is a small filet versus shredded). That went for $3.50. It was also solid.
